This is about how I work with bands and what you can expect when you book me for a photosession.
IDEAS AND COMMUNICATION
First of all, I see every photosession as something special, a piece of art and I need interaction and motivation from the band. Before the session we will talk about your band, about your style and how you like to be presented on the pictures as the band photos have to fit the style of your band and you have to feel well with how you will be presented there. Of course I like crazy ideas and unusual things but this doesnt work for every band. Some bands just look better on rather normal pictures with cool poses, street style or more glamour like portraits. While some others are just represented best with very unusual concepts and rather crazy shots… And then there are of course many shades of these styles where we can work on. If the band already has ideas and visions in their head, go on, talk with me! I am open for artistic visions and if you have a good location to realise these ideas I can tell you if that works on a photo or not as some ideas might be great but not realistic for a picture. I always have to consider the technical aspect too and the final product.
LOCATION
Best case is if you know a good location or already have an idea for a place where we can shoot pictures. As I travel a lot as well I can’t know all the good places in your city so the choice of a location will totally be in your hands when I travel abroad. It is different in places where I live (Innsbruck or Vienna) because I know these cities. But even there I will need an idea of what style you want in your pictures: old, modern, neutral etc etc… I am not a big fan of studio shootings just to say, even if the technical support is much better (lights and a good room), I still prefer outdoor shootings at some cool locations as there are much more possibilities there for creative ideas. Of course facts as the weather are important but as long as its not raining/snowing as hell or -10 degrees (my camera wont work in such cold) it will work.
STYLING
Please also think about the clothing style! You can always ask me what may look best, I am a girl and I know about clothes hahaha. But for example sandals and shorts are a no go on pictures (unless you want a beach styled session with cocktails in your hand haha) and what I really dont like are hands in the poket, it just doesnt look good. In any case just take a few different outfits and if you need make up think about it before or make the styling before the photosession. I am not a make up artist or stylist so if you need these, you have to find them yourself.
POSING
I will give you instructions during the session on how to pose, where to look or what to do because of course I can see better through my camera what composition and poses I need. But here as well you can give me an input, tell me if you like the idea or not and interact with me… Communication is a very important thing on the way to a satisfying result for both sides.
POST PRODUCTION
A very important thing is also the post production and how I rework on the pictures. Some bands want more, some bands less reworking and that is as well a matter of taste and band style. After the session I will rework on the pictures and for those who wonder: I only shoot in RAW format and develop the pictures in Adobe Lightroom (that I bought a while ago because it is just a great program with many possibilities). You will get a few pictures as preview and give me your feedback about if you like the colors and style, if not we can still adapt it and rework on it again… As long as you dont give me another wish every day I am open for constructive ideas from your side as well… After all these pictures will represent your band and you have to be satisfied with it too.
WHAT I DONT DO
I dont like to give away not reworked pictures, it just feels like giving away a non finished product. I reserve the rights to deny a photosession. Sometimes I cant take a session because of time issues (mind you, I have a 40 hours every days job beside this so it is not always easy to combine both!) even if I would love to do the session but time is not always on my side unfortunately…
PLANNING
If you want to work with me contact me in advance, as said I usually dont have so much time so it needs planning (sometimes spontaneous things work too so you can always ask me anyway hehe). I wont put any prices online here as this always depends on the time and effort of a session and on how much you want and of course also on how far I have to travel. But I am affordable, so just ask! I am looking forward to work with more bands in the future and I hope I could give you a little insight about how it is to work with me and what you can get and expect when you book a session with me!
